What we repair
Most cooktop calls come down to a handful of faults. Each can have more than one cause, so a technician confirms the fault before any repair.
A wet or dirty igniter, a burner cap out of position, blocked burner ports, a stuck knob or an ignition fault can all stop a gas burner lighting or keep it sparking.
A code or flashing light points to the system involved. A technician confirms the actual fault before any part is replaced.
Check the breaker first. A dead display or unresponsive controls after a power cut or surge can also be a control board fault.
A burner or heating zone that runs weak or uneven can have blocked burner ports, a worn igniter or element, a sensor fault or a power fault, depending on the cooktop type.
A knob that will not turn, a switch that does not respond or touch controls that ignore input can come from worn parts, spilled liquid or a control fault.
If one burner or zone is dead while the others work, the fault is often in that burner's own igniter, switch or element.
Do not use the cooktop or any switch. Leave the home and call your gas utility's emergency number or 911 from outside. Do not use flames, a phone or switches inside, and stay out until your gas utility confirms it is safe.
Parts
A failed part is often the whole story, but which one depends on the diagnosis. We confirm the fault before recommending a repair.

Control board and wiring faults are a larger decision. See repair or replace below.
Before you call
A few simple checks can rule out the easy causes. Do not remove panels or work on gas or wiring yourself.
If the cooktop is still not right after these checks, a technician can trace the fault. Call or book online and tell us what the cooktop does.
Repair or replace
Often yes, when the fault is a single part such as an igniter, burner cap, switch or element. A built-in cooktop is cut into the countertop, so replacing it can mean far more than the price of a new cooktop.
The answer depends on how old the cooktop is, what has failed and what the repair costs compared with replacing it. Prices vary with the fault and the part, so we do not publish one figure. Our range and oven repair cost guide explains what drives it.
Models
Give us the model from the data plate and we will confirm we can service your cooktop.
How it works
From the first call to a working cooktop, in three steps.

Tell us the model, what the cooktop is doing, any error code or flashing light and whether it is gas, electric or induction. A photo of the data plate helps.
Our technician traces the fault, whether it is an igniter, burner, switch, element, power board or control, and explains what is needed.
You get the diagnosis and the repair options, and the repair goes ahead once you agree.
