Have this ready when you call

  • The model, from the data plate (your manual shows where it is)

  • Any error code or flashing light on the display
  • Whether it is gas, dual fuel or electric, and whether a breaker has tripped

What we repair

Thermador Range Problems We Repair

Most range calls come down to a handful of faults on the oven side or the burner side. Each can have more than one cause, so a technician confirms the fault before any repair.

Burner will not light or keeps clicking

A wet or dirty igniter, a burner cap out of position, blocked burner ports or an ignition fault can all stop a gas burner lighting or keep it sparking.

Gas range clicking or not lighting →

Error codes or flashing lights

A code or flashing light points to the system involved. A technician confirms the actual fault before any part is replaced.

Will not turn on or has no power

Check the breaker first. A dead display or unresponsive controls after a power cut or surge can also be a control board fault.

Oven not heating or heating unevenly

A bake or broil element, a gas oven igniter, a temperature sensor or a control fault can leave an oven cold, slow to heat or baking unevenly, depending on the range type.

Knob, switch or touch control faults

A knob that will not turn, a switch that does not respond or touch controls that ignore input can come from worn parts, spilled liquid or a control fault.

One burner or oven function not working

If one burner or one oven function is dead while the rest work, the fault is often in that part's own igniter, switch or element.

If you smell gas, leave first

Do not use the cooktop or any switch. Leave the home and call your gas utility's emergency number or 911 from outside. Do not use flames, a phone or switches inside, and stay out until your gas utility confirms it is safe.

Parts

Parts Commonly Involved in Range Repair

A failed part is often the whole story, but which one depends on the diagnosis. We confirm the fault before recommending a repair.

Control board and wiring faults are a larger decision. See repair or replace below.

Before you call

Quick Checks Before You Book

A few simple checks can rule out the easy causes. Do not remove panels or work on gas or wiring yourself.

Control lock off and the right burner or oven function selectedBreaker switched fully off, then on (electric ranges often use two poles)Burner caps seated flat and aligned, cooktop dry and coolError code or flashing light noted before you reset anythingWhether the burner clicks and the oven glows, fans or lights at start-up

Still not right?

If the range is still not right after these checks, a technician can trace the fault. Call or book online and tell us what the range does.

Repair or replace

Is a Thermador Range Worth Repairing?

Often yes, when the fault is a single part such as an igniter, sensor, element, switch or burner part. A range is a large, high-value appliance, and replacing it can cost far more than the part.

The answer depends on how old the range is, what has failed and what the repair costs compared with replacing it. Prices vary with the fault and the part, so we do not publish one figure. Our range and oven repair cost guide explains what drives it.

FAQ

Thermador Range Repair FAQ

Answers to the range questions we are asked most.

Why is my Thermador range oven not heating?
Check that the oven is set to bake and that the breaker has not tripped. On a gas oven, a weak or failing igniter can be the cause; on an electric oven, the bake element or a control fault may be responsible. A technician needs to test it. If you smell gas at any point, stop, leave the home and call 911 or your gas utility from outside.
Why is my Thermador gas range burner clicking but not lighting?
Clicking means the igniter is firing. Common causes are a burner cap that is out of position, a wet or dirty igniter, blocked burner ports or the gas supply being off. Reseat the cap, let the surface dry and check the gas is on. If it still will not light, book a technician. If you smell gas at any point, stop, leave the home and call 911 or your gas utility from outside.
Why will my Thermador range not turn on?
Start with the circuit breaker, including after a power cut or surge. If the breaker is fine and the controls are dead or unresponsive, the cause may be wiring or the control board, which a technician needs to test.
Why is my Thermador oven temperature wrong or baking unevenly?
A temperature sensor, a worn element or igniter, a door that does not seal or a control fault can all change how an oven heats. Note the temperature you set and what the oven actually does, and book a diagnostic if the difference is noticeable.
What does an error code or flashing light on my Thermador range mean?
A code or flashing light points to the system involved, such as a sensor, the controls or the power supply. Write it down before you reset anything, check your owner's manual, and call us if it comes back. A technician confirms the actual fault before any part is replaced.
Why is only one burner not working on my Thermador range?
When the others work, the fault is usually in that burner's own igniter, cap or switch rather than the whole range. Check that the burner cap is seated and dry, then book a diagnostic if it still fails.
Is it worth repairing a Thermador range?
Often yes when the fault is a single part, because a range is a large appliance and replacing it can cost far more than the part. Age and the specific fault matter, so a diagnosis comes first. Our range and oven repair cost guide explains what affects the price.
Can I replace a range igniter or element myself?
We do not recommend it. Igniters involve gas connections and elements involve high-voltage wiring. Both are best handled by a trained technician.
Are you authorized by Thermador?
No. Thermador Repair Group is an independent repair service and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the manufacturer. If your range is still under the manufacturer warranty, check the warranty terms before booking, because service by an independent company may affect coverage.
Do you repair Thermador cooktops and ovens separately too?
Yes. See our cooktop repair, oven repair and stove repair pages, or call us and describe what is not working.
